Year 5

The following are reflections of various subjects made by the Year 5 students.

Reda: During P.E. with Mr. Brodie we have been playing a game called Combat Target. In Combat Target there are two teams. One team throws balls at the other team that is running from one end of the field to the other to try and tag them out. You need to dodge the balls being thrown and collect as many balls as you can for your team to win.

Mahnoor: Maths has been exciting because we’ve had the chance to use measuring scales to weigh different objects (including ourselves!) and we played games about mass (grams, kilograms and tonnes). We also made worded problems for our friends to solve then we shared the answers with the class.

Hassan: In Arabic, we have been reading texts about people. I had a great time reading about weather changes with my friend Mohamed. I thought it was a really interesting topic. We have also practised greetings and starting conversations with others in Arabic.

Sibel: In SRC we have been organising the events that will take place on the last day of school, in particular, activities for the Year 6’s last day of primary school. We have also discussed how to make a school a healthier and rubbish free area. I’ve learnt that when people work together (and agree on things) we can make amazing things happen which makes me feel proud.

Mehsin: We have been learning about the Solar System in Science. We had a project about the planets orbiting the sun that we showed the class. There are 8 planets in the Solar System: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars, these are the terrestrial ones, and Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are the gas giants.

Ibrahim: In ICT class, we have been using the Prezi application to do a project about ‘Light’. So far I’ve learnt that light is the fastest travelling thing in the whole universe! We have been using Tux Typing to improve our typing skills.

Ava: In English, we have been writing poems. I’ve learnt that poems don’t always have to rhyme. Further, they don’t always have to make sense. I’ve really enjoyed writing narrative poems so far because we get to be really creative and write about things that interest us.

Kind Regards,
